Promotores

Promotores Program provides outreach services and training to residents selected for the program to develop community leadership and educate low-income parents about health care, education, workforce training, and financial education.

The Promotores Program is supported by generous grants from United Way, The Jackson Foundation, Rose E. Tucker Charitable Trust and the Northwest Health Foundation.

Through partnerships with many organizations, including the Washington County Health and Human Services Department, Tuality Healthcare's Salud Program, the Virginia Garcia Clinic, and a variety of public and private family services organizations, Promotores are able to visit with residents in their communities to assess and assist with obtaining needed services in the area.

While home visits address the needs and concerns of each individual household, Promotores are prepared to help residents build self-help skills, and suggestions about setting goals for self, family and work, self-care and stress management, locating appropriate healthcare resources, identifying serious health problems in the family (diabetes, asthma), and steps to prevent or address risks of breast and cervical cancer.
